Hello there, welcome to the blog! How’s everybody doing? We hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. We started ours off right on Friday by brewing a true American original, the Cream Ale. Did anyone get the Wu-Tang Clan reference in the title?
Because it’s a Cream Ale…Wu-Tang foreva!
Moving on. So originally we were supposed to brew this fantastic summertime lawn mower beer last Friday, but found that our starter seemed a little off. So, rather than risking a bad batch, we pushed it off a week. Better safe than sorry we always say! Let’s take a look at the pictures shall we?
Grains and flaked barley and flaked corn all crushed and ready for the mash.
Measuring the hops.
Brian and Seth having a serious discussion about a serious topic, seriously.
The grant doing its thing, and doing it well.
Kettle starting to fill up. Pretty color.
The first runnings.
SPARGE!!!
Brian checking the volume of the kettle.
Seth running numbers.
The final runnings.
Holy cow, look! It’s me measuring more hops!
Filling up the fermentation buckets.
Aerating before pitching the yeast.
15 glorious gallons of beer!
Well friends, that’s the gist! We had a great brew session, our mash efficiency hit 84% and our brewhouse efficiency was 73%. Pretty damn good if I do say so myself! Up next, we brew again!
Until next time…
