I guess I should say, what time was it? It was BREW TIME!!! Because we’re not brewing right now, we brewed on Friday, past tense. The exclamation points still stand because I’m still very excited! Why am I so excited? We brewed 15 delicious gallons of my all time favorite beer, our Red Rye-der!
We had a really great brew session, things went fairly smooth, our mash efficiency hit 88%, our brewhouse efficiency was 76% and our original gravity was 1.068, and we were happy! You’ll be happy too because I was able to snap plenty of pretty pictures for your viewing pleasure. Let’s get started!
Literally a ton of grain went into this batch. Ok, not literally a ton, but it seemed like it.
That’s a bunch of hops! We’ll also be dry hopping with Amarillo.
Doughing in.
Watching Seth tinker with things.
Starting to fill the kettle. This is a beautiful beer my friends.
The first runnings.
The final runnings.
Brian tending to the kettle, just about to get rolling.
Boiling like a maniac!
Filling the fermentation buckets.
Aerating before pitching the yeast.
And there you have it, 15 gallons of greatness all sealed up.
As excited as I am about this beer, I’m even more excited for this Friday. We’re brewing a recipe that we’ve never brewed before! What is it? You’ll have to check in next week to find out!
Until next time…
