It’s update time!

Friday night we brewed our second batch of the honey brown ale. All in all it was a good night! Seth’s mechanical genius is making our brewing process more efficient and cutting down the time it takes to brew our incredible beers.

Our honey brown turned out excellent! Rich, dark brown color and nutty, smoky  flavor, our first attempt at this recipe as an all grain brew. The honey will be added in a few days.

We bottled our all grain American Pale Ale, which yielded 3 beautiful cases! It was good to be us on Friday night!

There will be a break in our brewing for the next couple of weeks. Next weekend is my anniversary, and the weekend after is DAFCAE! Also known as the Dude’s Annual Fall Camping Adventure Extravaganza! Where many of our brews will be consumed fireside.

Back at it on Friday, October 26th. We’ll keep you posted. Have a great week everybody!

Ghosts of Brewing Future

Were you to call me a happy camper today, I might just punch you in the nose. I am not in a good mood, and to be quite frank, I am more than okay with that. I am annoyed, aggravated, and more than just a bit pissed off. If you know what’s best for you world, you will keep your distance.

So what has my feathers in a ruff? Simply put….I NEED TO BREW BEER. I am in the throws of some serious brewing withdrawal. I am like a brewing junky, and I NEED a fix! I want to brew it now. But I can’t. Once again, stupid work is in the way. Nope, I have to wait until Friday night. Normally, this wait would be more bearable, but I didn’t get to brew last weekend either because I had to go to a stupid wedding. Continue reading

Another busy weekend

It’s Saturday, I know all of you were anxiously awaiting an update about our Friday night brew session, but it didn’t happen. Sometimes life (and work) gets in the way of things. Seth is attending his sister’s wedding (congrats!) out of town, I am working pretty much all weekend (boo!) and Brian is working on his new house.

Don’t get your panties in a bunch! We’ll be back at it again next weekend brewing another all grain version of Seth’s honey brown recipe. Until then, we will bottle our wheat and watch the APA bubble away in the fermentation bucket!

Have a great weekend!

What time is it?

BREW TIME!!!!!

Well not really, it’s only 5:00. Brew time doesn’t start for another 4 hours, but still, as always we are just a little excited!

Tonight we brew our all grain version of Seth’s APA recipe. And on top of that, it’s a 10 gallon batch (our first btw)!

We are implementing some new equipment and new ideas into tonight’s brew session. Both of which should make thing turn out better and run more smoothly. Pumped about that as well!

So, wish us luck! Have a great weekend everybody!

Brewcation…sorta

As part of my full-time job, I have to do a bit of travel. I typically don’t get to see much of the cities I visit beyond whatever sights can be seen through the car window during the drive between the airport and the hotel, but once in a while the opportunity presents itself to make a side trip to a local bar or grocery store. This has been one of those trips.

As I write this post, I am currently find myself in Atlanta, Ga. I am here to shoot a bit of video, but my evenings have been largely free. This has provided me with a great chance to not just see some sights, but to also sample some local flavors. Continue reading
