King Leonidas: THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!

And that is Brian kicking Seth into an imaginary well. Sorry, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to act out the scene in “300” whilst in a city called Sparta. Can you blame us?

Ok, so we were in Sparta, Illinois not Greece and while no one got kicked into a giant well, we did have a blast pouring our beer at the “What’s Brewing in the Park” festival this past weekend! It was a ton of fun, homebrew, BBQ, ukulele covers of popular songs, what’s not to like? We brought three of our favorite beers to compete in the homebrew competition and I’m happy to report, we won a couple of prizes! Our Hot Blonde Jalapeño Blonde Ale took 3rd place in the judge’s choice category and it also took 1st place in the audience choice category! We were very flattered. We were so busy serving our beer and chatting with the locals that I don’t have many pictures of the event, but I’m going to share the ones I do have!

It begins! So many friendly people in the Sparta area. They really made us feel welcome.

BBQ ribs and a Hot Blonde? Doesn’t get much better than that!

One more shots of the trophy before we break down the serving station.

That’s all I’ve got for this week my friends. I do want to take a minute to thank White Rooster Farmhouse Brewery for putting on the event, the lovely city of Sparta, Illinois and the friendly folks from the area who welcomed us with open arms.

Don’t forget, we’ll be pouring our beer at Recess Brewing in Edwardsville, Illinois this Sunday, May 15th from noon to five. If you missed out this weekend, you’ll have another chance to give us a try!

Until next time…
