Few things in this life make me happier than receiving boxes in the mail. When I walk into my office on a Friday morning and find that two new, though not all that shiny (what do you expect…they are cardboard), boxes are waiting for me in my inbox, I get a bit giddy.
I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Which is weird, because I usually know what will be inside.The joy and excitement of opening those boxes up and discovering their contents is something that I still feel as powerfully as I did when I was just a wee little tot…especially when I know it’s something for the brewery. Dreams…ambitions…passions…inspirations…motivations. Whatever you might term them, it has become increasingly and abundantly clear to me that they are an immensely powerful force to be reckoned with. They are all encompassing and once they firmly take hold, can add new meaning to one’s life.
Little has made this point more poignant to me than the birth of my daughter Camryn, who came into this world ten and a half months ago. In the months leading up to that wonderful day, I had been preparing myself for the responsibility of being a father. Nothing though, had prepared me for the overwhelming joy that would surge through my body the moment that she wrapped her little hand around my finger for the first time. It was a good thing that I was already sitting down, otherwise it probably would have brought me to my knees. Continue reading

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was a young lad living in (or rather close to) Peoria, IL. I had recently graduated college, and I was enjoying a booming career in radio broadcasting.
Though to be honest…I use the term booming very liberally (and with a great deal of sarcasm)…as 70 hour work weeks for $16,000 a year is not exactly what most would consider successful.
At any rate, I was full of piss and vinegar and ready to take on the world. More than anything though...I was thirsty.
