Busting out the Brew Tech!

After weeks of planning, thinking, ordering, researching, ordering more, then finally planning even more, work has begun in earnest on our first brewery control system. I for one, could not be more excited.

It’s still a ways from being complete, but thanks to a day off on Wednesday following a long week of travel, a good dent has been put into its construction.

Wiring diagrams make my head hurt….

First off, let me just say that there probably is no greater confession of being a complete and utter dumb ass than claiming to be intelligent. People who boast about being smart, are, at least in my experience, almost always too dumb to live.

That said, I will not claim to be smart. But I do know some stuff.  I am a jack of all trades, and I know a little bit about a lot of stuff. I don’t know a lot about these things. Just enough to be dangerous.

But when it comes to wiring and electronics, I think I know just enough to know that I don’t know a darn thing. Continue reading

It’s update time!!! (Sort of)

I can’t give a really good update, because I wasn’t actually at the brew session last night. I was stuck on afternoons all week and after seeing my wife for a total of 2 hours this week, I thought it was in my best interest to go home. So for a proper update, you’ll have to ask Brian or Seth.

But here’s what I’ve gathered.

Last night the better looking and more talented 2/3 of the Regular Guy team brewed a NEW beer. They brewed a traditional blonde with an unconventional kick. These wacky bastards added jalepeño. The first tastings were reported as, “slightly sweet with a nice kick.” Thank you Seth for the report. While I’m sad that I didn’t get to taste this spicy blonde concoction, I’m really looking forward to the finished product.

On a different note the more intelligent and slightly sexier 2/3 of the Regular Guy team also kegged our latest heffe. They didn’t sample it, but I was told it smelled amazing!

Thanks Brian and Seth, I can’t wait to taste the fruits of your labor!

How was brewing? I don’t know, I was sick.

The Friday night brew session went on as planned, but without me. I was torn between brewing and getting some much needed rest. After working three afternoons with a fever and a hell of a sinus infection, brewing lost the battle. I tucked my tail, hung my head, and found my bed. I am feeling better, thanks for asking.

From what I heard, the heffe was brewed without any issues and everything turned out great! If you want the details, you’ll have to ask Brian or Seth.

I’ll be back in action this Friday and we’ll keep you posted on how the KEGGING goes!
